Lucid problems and fixes
Every documented Air and Gravity problem with its fix: an official recall, a software update, Lucid guidance, or a workaround reported by the press. Saudi items come first.
Ask the assistant
Ask about your Lucid as you would ask a knowledgeable friend: a problem, an odd noise, a service center or a part. It answers from this site's pages first, names them, and keeps the conversation going.
Answers are automated and can be wrong. Anything not based on this site's pages is general guidance. For safety issues and serious faults, contact Lucid service directly. Chats are not saved.

Important before tinting the windshield
Tint film installation liquid can run down the base of the windshield into the electronics behind the dashboard. In a reported Lucid Air case (March 2025) the Lucid service center attributed an electrical failure to the tint and estimated about US$7,000 for the repair, outside the warranty.
- Ask the shop to protect the base of the windshield and the dashboard with towels or a waterproof cover, use as little liquid as possible and soak it up as it runs.
- Choose a shop that has tinted Lucids before, and agree in writing who pays for any damage.
- If warnings or screen faults appear after the tint job, contact Lucid service (800 111 1030) and mention the tint.
Evidence: one press report of a single case; the Owner's Manual warns in general that liquids can damage electrical components. We found no Lucid bulletin on tinting and could not confirm a change on 2026 models. If you have a source, write to us. Details and sources

- WorkaroundAir and GravitychargingSaudi Arabia
Saudi press reported in 2024 that public fast chargers were scarce (about 20 fast-charging stations at the time, 8 of them in Riyadh). This was seen as a main barrier to owning an EV. PwC estimated the Kingdom needs at least 60,000 charging points by 2030.
FixLucid gave Saudi buyers an allowance of USD 1,000 toward a home charger. It signed an MoU with EVIQ for high-speed charging and said in May 2026 that it had installed more than 100 free AC chargers around the Kingdom. EVIQ targets 5,000 chargers at more than 1,000 sites by 2030. Home charging is the main workaround.
- Official fixGravitycharging
DC fast charging sometimes failed to start until the connector was unplugged and re-plugged.
FixGravity OTA 3.5.0 made charging start more reliably on the first try at select DC stations and kept AC outlets active during DC charging.
- Official fixGravitycharging
Level 2 charging was not robust, and an error message could appear when using an 80-amp AC charger.
FixGravity OTA 3.3.8 improved Level 2 charging robustness and OTA 3.3.9 resolved the 80 A charger error; both improved display reliability.
- Official fixAircharging
Scheduled charging had to be re-selected if the car was unplugged and re-plugged before the session started.
FixOTA 2.5.0 keeps the schedule active after re-plugging; it also improved Electrify America Plug & Charge reliability.
- Official fixAircharging
A rare, short interruption of climate and charging functions could occur.
FixOTA 2.3.10 prevents this interruption.
- Official fixAircharging
Scheduled charging was still enforced when the battery was low, delaying needed charging.
FixOTA 2.1.33 stops enforcing the charging schedule at low state of charge.
- WorkaroundAir and Gravitycharging
Mobile Charging Cable does not charge the car.
FixMost often the wall-plug adapter is not fully pushed into the cable box (tight weather seal); also unplug, wait and re-plug, which resets many charging errors. Follow the Pilot Panel notification or contact Customer Care.
- WorkaroundAir and Gravitycharging
Charge port lights flash red / charging error.
FixCheck the charge-port light meaning and any cockpit or app notification, unplug and re-plug, then contact Customer Care if it persists.
- WorkaroundAir and Gravitycharging
Lucid Charging Service public session will not start.
FixConfirm app login, enrolment, Plug & Charge and a valid payment method; unplug and wait at least a minute, clean debris from connector and port, re-insert firmly, check station errors or switch stations.
- WorkaroundAircharging
DC fast charging speed is much lower than the charger's rating after frequent DC use (derating).
FixThe car may pre-emptively limit DC power to protect the battery. Use AC for daily charging, precondition before DC charging, and DC charge from around 20%.
- WorkaroundAir and Gravitycharging
Unexpected card hold or 'payment issue' notice with Lucid Charging Service.
FixHolds are temporary pre-authorizations, usually released in 2-4 days (up to a week). A payment-issue notice puts the account on hold until the payment method is fixed in the Lucid Wallet / Owner's Portal; pay at the station meanwhile.
- WorkaroundAir and Gravitycharging
DC fast charging becomes temporarily unavailable and the car shows 'DC Charging Unavailable: Use AC Charging as needed and schedule service'.
Symptoms: DC chargers will not charge the car; AC charging still works. A later 'DC Charging Restored' message means it is back to normal.
FixNo immediate action is needed; use AC charging meanwhile. If the warning persists, contact Customer Care to schedule service. On long trips plan around AC chargers until it clears.
- WorkaroundAir and Gravitycharging
During a session the car shows 'Vehicle Not Charging: Use AC charging as needed and schedule service', meaning DC charging is unavailable for that session.
Symptoms: DC session stops or will not start.
FixSwitch to AC charging as needed and contact Customer Care to schedule service.
- WorkaroundAircharging
The charging connector will not release from the Air's charge port when its button is pressed.
FixUse the emergency manual disconnect: open the hood (frunk), pull up the manual disconnect lever to release the cable, then put the lever back in its original position before closing the hood. Use only when the cable button fails.
- WorkaroundAircharging
The Air's charge port door does not open when the car has no power and the 12 V batteries cannot be charged.
FixOpen the driver's door, lift the bottom-right corner of the charge port door until a gap forms at the top edge, then put your fingers in the gap and gently pull down to the hard stop. Use this only when the car is without power.
- WorkaroundAircharging
In freezing weather the Air's charge port door can ice over and not open.
FixDo not chip or hit the ice. Cycle the door open/closed repeatedly from the in-car controls or the Lucid app until the ice breaks.
- WorkaroundAir and Gravitycharging
On a low-power source such as a household outlet, the car's systems (for example battery heating or cooling) can need more energy than the outlet supplies, so the car does not charge.
Symptoms: App and car report insufficient power to charge.
FixMove to a higher-power source (a Level 2 wall unit or public AC/DC charger). The Knowledge Center notes that household-outlet speed depends on circuit amperage, wiring quality, shared circuits and voltage fluctuations; a dedicated home charging station is the fastest home option.
- WorkaroundAir and Gravitycharging
The car will not shift out of Park while a charging cable is connected.
Symptoms: A notification appears on the driver display when you try to shift.
FixUnplug the cable (press the connector button and pull) before selecting a gear.
- WorkaroundAir and Gravitycharging
Scheduled Charging does not work with DC stations or with some 'smart' AC chargers that need high-level communication with the car, and schedules set in third-party charger apps may not work properly.
Symptoms: Charging starts at the wrong time or not at all.
FixUse the car's built-in Scheduled Charging (set within 50 m of the saved location). To set another session after charging has begun, unplug and plug in again. Tap Start Charging to override a schedule once.
- WorkaroundAir and Gravitycharging
A Tesla Wall Connector may not charge a Lucid until it is configured to allow other vehicles; Air cars with a CCS1 port also need an adapter.
FixCheck the Wall Connector settings (such as Legacy Mode, Compatibility Mode or All EVs Mode) or ask Tesla. For an Air with CCS1, use a Lucid-approved NACS-to-J1772 AC adapter; Gravity has a native NACS port.
- No fixAircharging
Lucid Air charges at only about 50 kW at Tesla Superchargers. Press reports say access has been available since 31 July 2025 with Lucid's DC NACS-to-CCS1 adapter (USD 220), that charging is slow at about 200 miles per hour, and that the short Tesla cables can mean taking two bays.
FixExpected behaviour: most Superchargers run near 400 V, so Air boosts voltage through its Wunderbox, capped at 50 kW; only V3+ Superchargers work. Gravity boosts via its rear drive unit (up to ~220-225 kW). Press reports advise using 800 V or higher CCS fast chargers for full speed and only the Lucid-approved adapter.
- WorkaroundGravitychargingBeing verified
The Gravity can take up to 400 kW, but only on stations that deliver 1,000 V and at least about 430 A, and those are rare. Reviewers saw station-limited sessions, and one video asks what the point is if you cannot find a charger that fast. The Touring is held back more on current-limited stations because its pack voltage is lower.
FixWorkaround: the native NACS port and Wunderbox boost allow up to about 220 kW on 400 V Tesla Superchargers (0 to 45%). Plan stops with the built-in charger routing.
