Lucid problems and fixes
Every documented Air and Gravity problem with its fix: an official recall, a software update, Lucid guidance, or a workaround reported by the press. Saudi items come first.
Ask the assistant
Ask about your Lucid as you would ask a knowledgeable friend: a problem, an odd noise, a service center or a part. It answers from this site's pages first, names them, and keeps the conversation going.
Answers are automated and can be wrong. Anything not based on this site's pages is general guidance. For safety issues and serious faults, contact Lucid service directly. Chats are not saved.

Important before tinting the windshield
Tint film installation liquid can run down the base of the windshield into the electronics behind the dashboard. In a reported Lucid Air case (March 2025) the Lucid service center attributed an electrical failure to the tint and estimated about US$7,000 for the repair, outside the warranty.
- Ask the shop to protect the base of the windshield and the dashboard with towels or a waterproof cover, use as little liquid as possible and soak it up as it runs.
- Choose a shop that has tinted Lucids before, and agree in writing who pays for any damage.
- If warnings or screen faults appear after the tint job, contact Lucid service (800 111 1030) and mention the tint.
Evidence: one press report of a single case; the Owner's Manual warns in general that liquids can damage electrical components. We found no Lucid bulletin on tinting and could not confirm a change on 2026 models. If you have a source, write to us. Details and sources

- WorkaroundAir and GravitychargingSaudi Arabia
Saudi press reported in 2024 that public fast chargers were scarce (about 20 fast-charging stations at the time, 8 of them in Riyadh). This was seen as a main barrier to owning an EV. PwC estimated the Kingdom needs at least 60,000 charging points by 2030.
FixLucid gave Saudi buyers an allowance of USD 1,000 toward a home charger. It signed an MoU with EVIQ for high-speed charging and said in May 2026 that it had installed more than 100 free AC chargers around the Kingdom. EVIQ targets 5,000 chargers at more than 1,000 sites by 2030. Home charging is the main workaround.
- WorkaroundAir and Gravityhigh-voltage batterySaudi Arabia
Lucid warns that leaving the car for more than 24 hours at ambient temperatures above 45 °C (113 °F) or below -20 °C can greatly reduce battery life and performance. Saudi summer temperatures regularly reach this range.
FixWhenever the car must stay in such heat, keep it plugged in so the battery can be cooled. Park in a garage or shade rather than direct sun, and for long periods leave it plugged in with the charge limit at Daily (about 50%).
- WorkaroundAir and Gravitydriver-assistanceSaudi Arabia
DreamDrive features become unavailable or degraded when a sensor or camera is blocked or affected by conditions. The manual lists dirt or fog on sensors, bright direct sunlight, extreme heat or cold, wraps or stickers, bike racks, a damaged bumper and Sprint mode. Dust and strong sun make this relevant in Saudi Arabia.
Symptoms: Warning on the driver display naming the blocked component; related settings greyed out under DreamDrive; Collision Protection disabled/fault indicators.
FixClean the indicated sensor or camera as the cleaning instructions describe and remove any obstruction. If the warning persists, or the fault is not a blockage, contact a Lucid Service Center. Have DreamDrive components serviced at Lucid.
- WorkaroundAir and GravitytiresSaudi Arabia
After parking in strong sun or driving in high ambient heat, tyre pressures read higher than the recommended cold values, and owners may wrongly let air out. This is common in Saudi summers.
FixDo not reduce the pressure of hot tyres. Move the car into shade and let the tyres cool (cold means parked over three hours or driven under about 1.6 km) before checking. Inflate to the cold pressures on the placard or the Tires & Wheels 'RECOMMENDED' tab, check monthly, and never exceed the sidewall maximum.
- WorkaroundAir and GravitytiresSaudi Arabia
Tyres degrade with age from UV light, extreme temperatures and high loads, even with good tread. Strong sun and heat make this relevant in Saudi Arabia.
FixLucid recommends replacing tyres every six years, or sooner if needed. Inspect them regularly, and check alignment if wear is uneven. Do not rotate tyres if front and rear sizes differ.
- WorkaroundAir and Gravityhigh-voltage batterySaudi Arabia
Creature Comfort Mode keeps cooling until the battery reaches 1% (about 4-5 miles of range). In Saudi heat, a long stop can therefore leave the car almost empty.
FixCheck charge before using it and watch the live status in the Lucid app. Do not leave pets for long periods. Plug in where possible, and charge promptly afterwards. The manual says not to leave the battery near 0%.
- WorkaroundAir and GravityclimateSaudi Arabia
Keeping the A/C on recirculation for a long time can fog up the windows. This happens easily when blasting cold air in humid coastal areas such as Jeddah or Dammam.
FixAvoid recirculating cool cabin air for long periods; switch to fresh-air blend, and use windscreen defrost (heat and fan go high and air goes to the windscreen) or rear defrost (auto-off after about 15 minutes) when fogging starts.
- WorkaroundAir and GravityclimateSaudi Arabia
Cabin air filters clog faster where there is more dust or sand in the air, which reduces airflow from the vents. This is typical of Saudi conditions.
Symptoms: Weak airflow from vents; A/C feels less effective.
FixReplace both cabin air filters every year or 12,000 miles (19,310 km), whichever is first, and more often in dusty or sandy environments. Ask a Lucid Service Center for an interval suited to dusty use. Wash off dust and sand promptly as part of exterior care.
- WorkaroundGravitydisplaysSaudi Arabia
The Gravity's augmented-reality head-up display may not be clearly visible with polarised sunglasses or in certain lighting. Both are common in strong Saudi sunlight.
FixAdjust HUD brightness and position under Settings > Vehicle > Driving > Head-Up Display or the HUD Quick Control, use non-polarised sunglasses, or turn the HUD off if it is distracting. It can only be switched on in Park.
- WorkaroundGravitycamerasSaudi Arabia
Drive Recorder USB drives degrade with heavy use and exposure to extreme heat, a real risk in a parked car in Saudi summers. When the drive is full, unstarred clips are overwritten, oldest first.
Symptoms: 'USB drive full' notice on the cockpit display; missing older clips; recording failures.
FixChoose shockproof drives rated for high temperatures. Star clips you need (starred clips are never overwritten) and copy important videos to a computer. Eject the drive from Settings before removing it. Reformat in the car if performance drops, and replace the drive if that does not help.
- WorkaroundAir and GravityinfotainmentSaudi Arabia
Without mobile connectivity, online navigation features, knowledge questions and streaming stop working. This can happen on remote desert highways.
FixThe Lucid Navigation app is connected-first and falls back on stored offline maps automatically when there is no signal; Lucid Assistant can still navigate with Offline Maps, control the car and make calls offline. Auto-Add Charging needs a connection, so on remote routes search and add a DC charging stop manually; the ETA then cannot include charging time. Connect to Wi-Fi at home so map and software updates download.
- WorkaroundAir and GravityownershipSaudi Arabia
Lucid's warranty terms (also published on its Saudi site) say coverage can be voided, at Lucid's discretion and retroactively, if a required software update is not installed within 30 days of notification, or if a recall notice is not complied with.
FixInstall required OTA updates within 30 days, for example by scheduling them overnight when the car is parked (not in Keep or Creature Comfort Mode), and complete recall work promptly. Keep records of updates and recall visits.
- WorkaroundAir and GravityownershipSaudi Arabia
A Lucid taken to another Lucid warranty region keeps warranty there only for temporary visits under six months. Owners moving permanently, or importing a car into Saudi Arabia from another region, must apply for a warranty transfer, which Lucid decides case by case, with regional modifications at the owner's cost.
FixBefore importing or relocating, apply to Lucid for a warranty transfer and budget for required regional modifications at a Lucid Service Center. Keep proof of compliance with temporary-import rules for short visits.
- WorkaroundAirsafetySaudi Arabia
Air Sapphire carbon-ceramic brakes can squeal or groan, especially when cold or damp or after hard driving, and they bite less sharply when cold. After hard driving they get very hot.
FixThe noise is normal for carbon-ceramic brakes. Burnish new brakes as the manual describes, in a safe non-public area. After hard driving, cruise at 80-113 km/h for about 5 km or 3 minutes to cool the brakes before stopping or parking. Inspect brakes, tyres and suspension before and after track sessions.

Improperly secured bolts may let a half-shaft disconnect from the drive unit on Air Pure rear-wheel-drive cars.
Symptoms: Sudden loss of drive power; possible noise or vibration from the drive unit area.
FixService removes/inspects the bolts and installs new ones, free of charge (SR-25-03-0; expanded by SR-26-03-0). Press reports (Carscoops) describe the remedy as an OTA update that keeps checking for half-shaft looseness and alerts the driver, followed by bolt replacement, and say cars not flagged by the system get no hardware work. In Saudi Arabia, owners check the VIN on Recalls.sa and call Lucid on 8001111030 to book a free repair.

The high-voltage coolant heater (HVCH, supplied by Webasto) can delaminate internally and fail, so the windshield cannot be defrosted.
Symptoms: Reduced or no cabin heat; windshield defrost not working; warning message on the display after the fix is installed.
FixOTA/software update that detects an HVCH failure and warns the driver, with free replacement of failed heaters (SR-24-01-0; expanded by SR-24-04-0). NHTSA opened recall query RQ24002 on the adequacy of this remedy and closed it without action in May 2026; audit query AQ24004 covers the supplier. - Official fixGravityownershipSaudi ArabiaBeing verified
Saudi buyers could order the Gravity from January 2025 (Grand Touring from SAR 487,715, Touring from SAR 416,645). The first Saudi deliveries in Jeddah came about nine months later, and Lucid announced the start of deliveries only on 15 November 2025. At that point the cheaper Touring was not yet being built.
FixDeliveries in Saudi Arabia have started. Later global delivery pauses (the seat-belt anchor stop-sale in early 2026) may also have affected Saudi timelines. No Saudi-specific figures were found.

The Gravity Grand Touring's roof is all glass and there is no electrochromic (dimming) option, so the cabin bakes in the sun. This matters a lot in Gulf heat. The reviewer called the clip-in cloth shade a poor fix for a car over USD 100,000 and said it takes two hands to fit.
FixWorkaround: buy Lucid's Gravity glass-canopy sunshade set (about USD 250 per The Drive), park in shade, and precondition the cabin while plugged in.

When the 12-volt system fails, the Air goes completely dead even with a well-charged main battery. The app, fob and key card all fail, and there is no mechanical key or emergency override. In one reported case a jump start unlocked the car only briefly, and it went back to sleep once the doors closed.
FixWorkaround: Lucid service or roadside can jump the 12 V system. The car was towed to a partner facility in the reported case, and the root fix needs a technician. A permanent fix was not reported.

The factory Pirelli tyres can wear out fast, about 19,000 miles in one reported case. On Grand Touring cars with 21-inch wheels, NHTSA complaints describe sidewall bubbles at low mileage. Lucid has not issued a recall.
FixWorkaround: budget for early replacement, consider the 19-inch Aero package (Lucid store, USD 4,250 for wheels and tyres), and check tyre-warranty terms with the tyre maker.
- WorkaroundAirservice
Owners far from a Lucid service centre face long drives (2.5 hours in one reported case), cars kept for days, repairs running far beyond estimates, and slow or missing call-backs from customer service. NHTSA complaints also mention multi-week holds.
FixWorkaround: use mobile service where it is offered and keep written records of service requests.
- WorkaroundAir and Gravityhigh-voltage battery
The car detects a problem in the high-voltage drive system and shows 'Battery System Fault: Vehicle powering down in 2 minutes'.
Symptoms: Red message in the centre of the driver display with audible alerts; drive power is cut after 2 minutes.
FixPull over safely and stop straight away. After 2 minutes the car disengages drive power on its own to protect components and occupants. Then contact Lucid Customer Care or Roadside Assistance.
- WorkaroundAir and Gravityhigh-voltage battery
The car detects a problem with the battery pack itself and shows 'Battery System Fault: Evacuate Vehicle Immediately'.
Symptoms: Red evacuation warning with audible alerts on the driver display.
FixStop, get everyone out of the vehicle immediately and move away, then contact Customer Care. Do not stay inside to troubleshoot.
- WorkaroundAir and Gravitypowertrain
A drive-system fault makes the car inoperable with the message 'Vehicle Not Drivable: Do Not Tow. Contact Customer Care.'
Symptoms: Car will not drive; message tells you not to tow it.
FixDo not tow or move the car yourself. Contact Customer Care first to schedule service; in some cases (for example after flooding) a technician must inspect the car before it is moved.
- WorkaroundAir and Gravitycharging
DC fast charging becomes temporarily unavailable and the car shows 'DC Charging Unavailable: Use AC Charging as needed and schedule service'.
Symptoms: DC chargers will not charge the car; AC charging still works. A later 'DC Charging Restored' message means it is back to normal.
FixNo immediate action is needed; use AC charging meanwhile. If the warning persists, contact Customer Care to schedule service. On long trips plan around AC chargers until it clears.
- WorkaroundAir and Gravitycharging
During a session the car shows 'Vehicle Not Charging: Use AC charging as needed and schedule service', meaning DC charging is unavailable for that session.
Symptoms: DC session stops or will not start.
FixSwitch to AC charging as needed and contact Customer Care to schedule service.
- WorkaroundAir and Gravitypowertrain
At power-up the car shows 'Drive System Diagnostics in Progress: May take up to 30 seconds' after detecting abnormal drive-system behaviour.
Symptoms: Short delay before the car is ready to drive.
FixWait for the health check to finish; no action is needed. If the message keeps appearing, contact Customer Care to schedule service.
- WorkaroundAir and Gravitypowertrain
Limited Power Mode switches on by itself when the drive controller detects a fault, cutting power, speed and performance to protect the powertrain.
Symptoms: Limited Power indicator on the driver display; noticeably reduced acceleration and top speed.
FixDo not panic; the car can still be driven with reduced performance. Move to the slower lane, be ready to stop, pull off when safe and call Roadside Assistance. Do not use the mode for sustained driving.
- WorkaroundAir and Gravityhigh-voltage battery
A 'High Temperature Detected for High-Voltage Battery' indicator can appear, which matters in Saudi summer heat. The manual warns that performance may be reduced while such alerts are shown.
Symptoms: Battery high-temperature icon on the driver display; possible reduced power, regenerative braking or charging speed.
FixFollow any on-screen instructions and expect reduced performance until it clears. The manual's battery-care advice for heat: avoid parking in direct sun on hot days and keep the car plugged in so the battery can be thermally conditioned. If the alert persists, contact Lucid service.
- WorkaroundAir and Gravityhigh-voltage battery
When remaining range falls below 50 mi / 80 km a yellow (amber) low-battery indicator appears, and below 10 mi / 16 km further warnings appear and the car may shut down. Scheduled Charging is also switched off automatically below 10 mi / 16 km.
Symptoms: Low-battery indicator and warnings on the driver display.
FixHead for a charger once range is under 80 km, remembering the estimate varies with terrain and temperature. Below 16 km go to the nearest charger immediately to avoid a shutdown. Charging starts at once when plugged in because scheduling is disabled at very low charge.
- WorkaroundGravityhigh-voltage battery
The Gravity manual warns that if the battery reaches 0% (0 km range) it must not stay there for more than 24 hours, or the high-voltage battery can be permanently damaged, and repair may not be covered by the New Vehicle Limited Warranty.
FixCharge immediately after reaching 0% (arrange transport to a charger through Roadside Assistance if needed). Keep a healthy charge, generally 30-80%, and leave the car plugged in at the Daily limit when parked for long periods.
- WorkaroundAir and Gravityhigh-voltage battery
The driver display shows a warning indicator when poor battery-pack health is detected, and the Pilot Panel shows a warning when the pack needs service.
FixContact Lucid Customer Care to schedule a service appointment. Gradual capacity loss is normal for lithium-ion batteries; the warning signals more than normal ageing.
- WorkaroundAir and Gravityelectrical
A '12V Battery Charging System Fault Detected' indicator (Gravity also has a '12V Battery Charging System Error' icon) warns that the low-voltage system is not being charged properly. If the 12 V system runs flat, the car can lose access and power.
Symptoms: 12V charging-system icon on the driver display.
FixThe manual lists the indicator but no specific step. Treat it as a system alert: avoid long trips, contact Lucid service soon, and keep the external 12 V jump points in mind (see the related items) in case the car goes dead.
- WorkaroundAirelectrical
If the Air's 12 V system is depleted the doors cannot be opened from outside. The manual documents hidden jumper leads for emergency 12 V power.
Symptoms: Car completely unresponsive to fob, app and key card.
FixRemove the two lower clips of the wheel-well liner behind the right rear wheel to reach the jumper leads. Connect a 12 V jump pack (12-14.4 V, 15-50 A; not Boost/Start mode, not a battery charger), red lead first, then unlock with fob, app or NFC card. The leads only open the car and do not charge the 12 V batteries. Disconnect and re-secure them before the car is moved. Towing providers can call 888-995-8243.
- WorkaroundGravityelectrical
If the Gravity's low-voltage system is depleted the car cannot be opened or shifted. The manual documents a jump-start panel under the rear of the car.
Symptoms: Car unresponsive; drive selector unresponsive.
FixUnder the car near the rear towing connector, remove the clips and pull down the jump-start panel. Connect a 12 V jump pack (12-14.4 V, 15-50 A, not Boost/Start mode, never a battery charger), red lead first, then black. Remove it and re-secure the panel before moving the car. Towing providers can call 888-995-8243.
- WorkaroundAir and Gravitypowertrain
If the car's electrical system is unresponsive, it cannot be shifted out of Park and the electric parking brake cannot be released, which stops a normal tow.
FixConnect a 12 V jump-start battery to the jump-start terminal so the selector can shift to Neutral; otherwise call Lucid service or Roadside Assistance and transport the car following the manual's transporter instructions.
- WorkaroundAir and Gravitybody
With vehicle power interrupted, the electric interior door release does not work and child locks are inactive, so occupants may not know how to get out.
FixPull the interior door handle past its normal position to the second detent; this operates the mechanical latch. Note that child safety locks are unavailable during a power interruption, so watch children in the rear.
- WorkaroundAircharging
The charging connector will not release from the Air's charge port when its button is pressed.
FixUse the emergency manual disconnect: open the hood (frunk), pull up the manual disconnect lever to release the cable, then put the lever back in its original position before closing the hood. Use only when the cable button fails.
- WorkaroundAircharging
The Air's charge port door does not open when the car has no power and the 12 V batteries cannot be charged.
FixOpen the driver's door, lift the bottom-right corner of the charge port door until a gap forms at the top edge, then put your fingers in the gap and gently pull down to the hard stop. Use this only when the car is without power.
- WorkaroundAircharging
In freezing weather the Air's charge port door can ice over and not open.
FixDo not chip or hit the ice. Cycle the door open/closed repeatedly from the in-car controls or the Lucid app until the ice breaks.
- WorkaroundAir and Gravitycharging
On a low-power source such as a household outlet, the car's systems (for example battery heating or cooling) can need more energy than the outlet supplies, so the car does not charge.
Symptoms: App and car report insufficient power to charge.
FixMove to a higher-power source (a Level 2 wall unit or public AC/DC charger). The Knowledge Center notes that household-outlet speed depends on circuit amperage, wiring quality, shared circuits and voltage fluctuations; a dedicated home charging station is the fastest home option.
- WorkaroundAir and Gravitycharging
The car will not shift out of Park while a charging cable is connected.
Symptoms: A notification appears on the driver display when you try to shift.
FixUnplug the cable (press the connector button and pull) before selecting a gear.
- WorkaroundAir and Gravitycharging
Scheduled Charging does not work with DC stations or with some 'smart' AC chargers that need high-level communication with the car, and schedules set in third-party charger apps may not work properly.
Symptoms: Charging starts at the wrong time or not at all.
FixUse the car's built-in Scheduled Charging (set within 50 m of the saved location). To set another session after charging has begun, unplug and plug in again. Tap Start Charging to override a schedule once.
- WorkaroundAir and Gravitycharging
A Tesla Wall Connector may not charge a Lucid until it is configured to allow other vehicles; Air cars with a CCS1 port also need an adapter.
FixCheck the Wall Connector settings (such as Legacy Mode, Compatibility Mode or All EVs Mode) or ask Tesla. For an Air with CCS1, use a Lucid-approved NACS-to-J1772 AC adapter; Gravity has a native NACS port.
- WorkaroundGravityelectrical
The Gravity's AC outlets (1.8 kW each) do not work when range is below 50 mi / 80 km or during AC charging, turn off by default, and may perform worse in very hot or cold climates.
Symptoms: Outlet LED stays off; accessory gets no power.
FixPlug in a compatible accessory (outlets switch on automatically) within the rating; to use them with the car off, toggle Keep On under OUTLETS on the Charging screen (it resets when you leave Park). Keep range above 80 km and stop AC charging while using them. The 12 V socket is limited to 15 A / 180 W.
- WorkaroundAir and Gravitydriver-assistance
Radar performance can be degraded temporarily by external interference such as nearby radar frequencies, causing a one-time notification and then a system-alert icon.
FixTemporary, intermittent alerts usually mean external interference and clear on their own when radar returns to normal. If degradation warnings persist, contact a Lucid Service Center.
- WorkaroundAir and Gravitydriver-assistance
The driver-monitoring (interior) camera behind the steering wheel can be blocked, for example by a badly positioned steering column, so Distracted and Drowsy Driver alerts become unavailable and hands-free features that rely on it may be affected.
Symptoms: 'Driver Monitoring Camera Cannot Detect Driver's Face' indicator or an alert on the centre display.
FixAdjust the steering column so it does not block the camera and remove any obstruction; the car notifies you when the view is clear. Note that these alerts do not work below 25 mph (40 km/h).
- WorkaroundGravitydriver-assistance
With a rear bike rack or cargo carrier fitted, the Gravity's rear sensors can be obstructed. Rear Attachment Optimization then limits some DreamDrive features, and if it is left on after the rack is removed those features stay reduced.
FixTurn on Settings > DreamDrive > Rear Attachment Optimization when the system does not detect the attachment automatically, and turn it off after removing the rack to restore DreamDrive features. If the rack has an electrical connection, TOW mode may switch on: turn TOW mode off and use Rear Attachment Optimization before driving.
- WorkaroundGravitydriveline
When towing, the Gravity limits speed to 90 mph (144 km/h), allows only the Standard ride height, disables some DreamDrive features, and can show a Trailer Sway alert and brake automatically. Towing without TOW mode or with the wrong trailer-brake gain is hazardous.
Symptoms: 'Trailer Sway Detected' indicator; car brakes on its own; reduced range.
FixAlways activate TOW mode (it switches on automatically with the electrical connection) at Standard ride height. Set the trailer brake gain on dry, flat asphalt at 15 mph before each new trailer or load. If the sway alert appears, slow down, pull over safely and redistribute the load, keeping tongue weight at 10-15% of trailer weight. Use an SAE-J2583 7-pin connector. Plan for lower range.
- WorkaroundAir and Gravitysafety
The ABS indicator lit with a message means the anti-lock braking system is disabled or faulty.
Symptoms: ABS indicator stays on. (Brief flicker, pedal pulsation and clicking during hard braking are normal ABS operation.)
FixContact a Lucid Service Center as soon as possible. The normal brakes still work, but stopping distances may increase and wheels may lock under heavy braking, so drive gently.
- WorkaroundAir and Gravitysafety
A red brake indicator means low brake fluid or a significant brake-system fault; a yellow brake indicator (Air) means a brake fault has been detected. The display shows 'Stop the Vehicle; Call Lucid Service Center' or 'Call Lucid Service Center'.
FixIf told to stop, stop safely and call Lucid service; do not keep driving. Otherwise contact a Service Center as soon as possible. The manual covers checking the brake-fluid level in the frunk reservoir.
- WorkaroundAir and Gravitysafety
Brake-pad wear sensors trigger messages near end of life, and a red brake-wear indicator means excessive wear.
FixHave the pads inspected and replaced at a Lucid Service Center soon; worn pads damage rotors and lengthen stopping distances. Avoid resting your foot on the brake pedal while driving.
- WorkaroundAir and Gravitysafety
An amber or flashing parking-brake indicator means a fault: the parking brake may not apply in Park or may be stuck.
FixChock the wheels or park on flat ground and contact a Lucid Service Center to have it repaired. Do not drive with the parking brake applied.
- WorkaroundAir and Gravitysafety
The car gives audible and visual warnings when parked on a slope too steep for the parking brake to hold it securely.
FixDrive to a less steep spot and re-park. Turn the front wheels away from the kerb facing uphill and towards it facing downhill.
- WorkaroundAir and Gravitysafety
Vehicle Hold (HOLD stop mode) releases and the car shifts to Park after about 10 minutes of holding or when the driver gets out; it also disengages if you shift to Neutral or press and release the brake.
Symptoms: Car unexpectedly goes into Park in long traffic stops.
FixThis is designed behaviour. Press the brake and select Drive again; for long waits, keep your foot on the brake. Stop-mode settings can be changed only in Park.
- WorkaroundAir and Gravitysafety
The Lucid Stability Control indicator flashes when the system is working but stays solid when a fault is detected; a separate indicator stays on all drive if stability control is set to PARTIAL/TRACK or OFF.
FixIf the indicator stays solid, contact Lucid service. If it is only the reduced-state icon, check Settings > Vehicle > Driving Dynamics; the system returns to FULL at every restart and FULL is recommended for normal and wet roads.
- WorkaroundAir and Gravitysafety
A 'Steering System Fault Detected' indicator can appear; the Gravity also has a separate 'Critical Steering System Fault Detected' indicator.
FixThe manual lists the indicators without a specific procedure. Its general rule for System Warnings applies: the problem needs immediate attention and performance may be reduced. Stop where safe and contact Lucid service or Roadside Assistance, especially for the critical warning.
- WorkaroundAir and Gravitypowertrain
Regenerative braking may be limited when the battery is very hot or cold or already near full charge, so the car slows less when you lift off the accelerator.
Symptoms: Notification on the cockpit display; power gauge shows limited regen; car coasts more than usual.
FixExpect to use the brake pedal more until it returns. Charging above the Daily limit also reduces regen until some charge is used. This is normal behaviour, not a fault.
- WorkaroundAir and Gravitysafety
The red airbag (SRS) warning indicator signals a fault in airbags, pretensioners, crash sensors, wiring or seat sensors.
Symptoms: Indicator does not light at start-up, does not go off within about 6 seconds, or comes on while driving.
FixContact a Lucid Service Center; do not repair or modify airbag parts or nearby wiring yourself. Avoid kicking or loading the front passenger seat, which can trigger the warning.
- WorkaroundAir and Gravitysafety
The front-passenger occupant sensor can show PASS AIR BAG OFF for an adult, for example a smaller adult, a reclined seat touching the rear, objects under the seat, or a seat-belt extender.
FixHave the passenger sit upright, well back, feet on the floor and belt worn correctly; remove objects under the seat and stop rear passengers pushing the seat. If it stays OFF, move the passenger to a rear seat or move the seat fully back, and contact a Lucid Service Center.
- WorkaroundAir and Gravitytires
The low-tyre-pressure light does not go off right away after the tyres are inflated correctly.
FixDrive at 18 mph (30 km/h) or more so the TPMS can re-read pressures and reset the light. Pressures are shown only after the car exceeds about 21 km/h. After a tyre change, drive 10 minutes for the system to learn the sensors.
- WorkaroundAir and Gravitytires
The TPMS light flashes for about a minute then stays on when the system itself is malfunctioning, for example after fitting non-compatible wheels or tyres, so low pressure may go undetected.
FixCheck pressures manually with a gauge until it is fixed. Make sure replacement wheels and tyres support the TPMS, and contact a Lucid Service Center if the malfunction continues.
- WorkaroundAir and Gravitytires
Frequent low-pressure warnings appear although the tyres are correctly inflated, or the TPMS stops reading after tyre sealant was used or the sensor battery ran down.
FixContact Lucid service to check whether a sensor needs replacing. The TPMS sensor battery cannot be replaced on its own; the whole sensor is changed at an authorised centre. Liquid or aerosol sealants can damage sensors, so tell the technician if you used one. Drive 10 minutes after a new sensor is fitted.
- WorkaroundAirtires
Driving the Air above 155 mph (250 km/h) needs higher cold tyre pressures on most tyre sizes than normal driving.
FixBefore such use, temporarily inflate to the manual's table: for example 45 psi (310 kPa) instead of 42 psi for 20- and 21-inch sizes; 245/45R19 stays at 49 psi. Track use is not covered by the warranty.
- WorkaroundAir and Gravitytires
A puncture may not deflate a tubeless tyre at once, but the tyre can lose pressure suddenly. A sudden vibration or ride disturbance can signal damage.
FixSlow down at once, avoid hard braking or sharp steering, and stop when safe. If there is no sidewall damage, use the tyre repair kit (12 V socket); otherwise have the car towed to a tyre centre or Lucid Service Center. Sealant can damage the TPMS sensor, so tell service if you used it.
- WorkaroundAiraccess
When you enter with the key card or a fob with a dead battery, the Air asks for the profile PIN before driving. After 21 wrong attempts, PIN entry is blocked for 2 hours.
FixEnter the PIN on the Pilot Panel after pressing the brake. If you have forgotten it, tap Reset PIN and confirm with your Lucid ID password (see the related item). Replace a low CR2032 fob battery promptly to avoid needing the PIN.
- WorkaroundAiraccess
A driver who has forgotten the profile PIN cannot drive when using the key card or a dead fob. Secondary-profile drivers have no Reset PIN option of their own.
FixPrimary profile: Settings > Access & Profiles > Reset PIN, or tap Reset PIN at the PIN prompt, confirm with your Lucid ID password and set a new PIN. Secondary profile: tap Reset PIN at the prompt; the Primary holder must approve in the Lucid app within five minutes. The car's own default PIN cannot be reset. Reset a forgotten Lucid ID password through the Owner's Portal 'Forgot Your Password?'.
- WorkaroundGravityaccess
The Gravity key fob does not respond to button presses.
FixTry close to the car (radio interference can block it), update the fob firmware to the latest version from the Lucid app, reset it by holding the lock button for 5 seconds, and replace the CR2450 battery if a 'Key Fob Battery Low' message appeared. Otherwise use the app or key card and contact Customer Care.
- WorkaroundGravityaccess
Gravity Handsfree Entry (walk-up unlock and walk-away lock) temporarily disables itself, so the car does not unlock or lock as you approach or leave.
FixThis happens by design if the fob's Lock/Unlock buttons are used near the car, or after several hands-free unlocks with no entry. It re-enables when the key leaves the area, after a period with no unlock events, or when you open the car manually. Check that Settings > Doors and Locks > Auto Lock & Unlock is on, that the car is unoccupied with doors closed, and always confirm visually that it locked.
- WorkaroundAir and Gravityaccess
The car shows 'Key Fob Not Detected' and will not start, or 'Key No Longer Detected' while in Drive when the fob is not found inside.
FixTry another fob or the key card (on Gravity tap the card on the centre console when asked); a low fob battery, radio interference or objects between key and receiver affect detection. Do not switch the car off without a key on board, because you cannot restart it. If it still will not start, contact Lucid.
- WorkaroundGravitybody
The Gravity's power liftgate stops partway because of an obstruction, or will not power-close after being left open for a long time. An unlatched liftgate also triggers the Door Ajar warning, shown in red in Drive or Reverse.
Symptoms: Liftgate stops; alert on the centre display; Door Ajar icon.
FixRemove the obstruction and try again. If it fails a second time, close it manually: lower it gently until almost shut and press down until the power cinch pulls it closed, without excess force. The liftgate works only in Park; take care in strong wind.
- WorkaroundAir and Gravitybody
Running the windscreen washers with an empty or frozen reservoir can overheat and ruin the washer pump. Frequent washing of dust can empty the reservoir faster.
Symptoms: Low Washer Fluid indicator.
FixRefill the reservoir when the low-fluid indicator shows and do not operate the washers while it is empty or frozen.
- WorkaroundAir and Gravityclimate
While Creature Comfort Mode or Keep Mode is on, the car cannot install software and cancels all scheduled OTA updates, and cabin preconditioning cannot be started from the app. In Creature Comfort Mode the pedals, window switches and other controls are also disabled.
Symptoms: Scheduled update did not happen; app preconditioning unavailable.
FixTurn the mode off when you return (opening the driver's door ends Creature Comfort Mode), then reschedule the update. Never leave children in the car, and keep watching battery level and phone signal when leaving a pet.
- WorkaroundAirclimate
Rear-zone climate in the Air switches off by itself when the system detects no passengers in the rear seats.
Symptoms: Rear vents stop blowing, for example when cooling the rear before passengers board.
FixThis is designed behaviour. Use front climate SYNC or Max Cool, or Remote Climate from the app, to cool the whole cabin before passengers board; rear controls work once occupants are detected.
- WorkaroundAirdisplays
The Air's infotainment screens freeze, go blank, become sluggish, or show broken features or blank apps.
FixIn Park and in a safe place, press and hold the steering-wheel Cancel and Voice buttons together with the brake pedal for 10 seconds until a chime sounds. The screens restart within about 3 minutes and the car cannot be driven meanwhile. Contact Customer Care if it continues.
- WorkaroundGravitydisplays
The Gravity's Pilot Panel becomes unresponsive or behaves unusually.
FixIn Park, press the brake and hold Cancel + Voice Assistant for 10-15 s (soft reboot). If that fails, do a power cycle: lock the car, walk about 15 m away with all fobs, wait one minute and return. As a last step, hold the same buttons for 20-25 s (hard reboot, double chime). A brief audio crackle is normal. A restart does not reset profiles.
- WorkaroundGravitysuspension
Gravity ride-height selection is greyed out or limited.
FixRide height cannot change while a door is open, while charging, with 'Prepare for Jack Mode' on, or during dynamic driving, and only heights compatible with the current speed and drive mode are offered. TOW mode allows Standard only. Close doors, unplug or turn off Jack Mode. If a suspension system error notification appears, follow its steps.
- WorkaroundGravitycameras
The Gravity Drive Recorder (beta dash cam) will not turn on or shows 'Unable to Save Recording', usually because of the USB drive.
FixUse a drive in the glovebox port with at least 7.5 MB/s write speed, 20 MB/s read speed and 128 GB (a high-endurance USB drive, an eMMC with a reader, or an SSD). Enable Event Recording in the Security app, and let the car format the drive (this erases it). If the error remains, try another compatible drive, then contact Customer Care.
- WorkaroundAir and Gravityinfotainment
Lucid Assistant switches on when nobody asked it, because voice activation is sensitive to words that sound like 'Hey Lucid'.
FixTurn off the Lucid Hands-Free toggle in Settings; the assistant can then be started only with the steering-wheel Voice button, and passengers can no longer invoke it.
- WorkaroundAir and Gravityinfotainment
Lucid Assistant does not respond to 'Hey Lucid' or does not hear the driver well.
FixSay 'Hey Lucid' clearly while looking forward over the steering wheel, because the detection microphone may miss you if you turn your head. Otherwise use the Voice button on the steering wheel. The assistant supports English, Spanish, French and Arabic, and knowledge questions need connectivity.
- WorkaroundAir and Gravityinfotainment
Lucid Assistant cannot call saved contacts, and it cannot send messages while CarPlay is active.
FixPair the phone over Bluetooth, then turn on Settings > Applications > Lucid Assistant > Communication > Allow Lucid Assistant to Access Contacts, and enable contact sync in the phone's Bluetooth settings. With CarPlay active, calls still work through the assistant but messages do not.
- WorkaroundAir and Gravityinfotainment
Asking Lucid Assistant to play a song does not work.
FixUse one of the supported third-party media apps, sign in to it under Settings > Applications, and make sure the car has connectivity. Without connectivity only FM radio, USB and paired-device media are available.
- WorkaroundGravityinfotainment
A Gravity iPhone set up for wired CarPlay will not switch to wireless CarPlay.
FixUnpair the iPhone completely: connect it by USB, remove it under Settings > Connectivity > Bluetooth > Paired Devices, unplug it, then on the iPhone go to Settings > General > CarPlay, tap your Lucid and choose Forget This Car; reconnect and enable wireless CarPlay during pairing. The CarPlay status icon shows the state: dark grey = no capable device paired, light grey = paired but not connected, white = connected, gold = in use.
- No fixAircharging
Lucid Air charges at only about 50 kW at Tesla Superchargers. Press reports say access has been available since 31 July 2025 with Lucid's DC NACS-to-CCS1 adapter (USD 220), that charging is slow at about 200 miles per hour, and that the short Tesla cables can mean taking two bays.
FixExpected behaviour: most Superchargers run near 400 V, so Air boosts voltage through its Wunderbox, capped at 50 kW; only V3+ Superchargers work. Gravity boosts via its rear drive unit (up to ~220-225 kW). Press reports advise using 800 V or higher CCS fast chargers for full speed and only the Lucid-approved adapter.
- No fixAirownership
Used Air values have fallen steeply, about 50% over three years by iSeeCars and KBB data, with around 63% projected over five years. Heavy new-car discounts and price cuts in 2024 and 2025 added to the drop.
FixNo known fix yet.

Second-row lap belt anchor brackets may have insufficient welds and can fail (FMVSS 207/210 non-compliance). Press reports say the seat supplier (Camaco) changed its welding process without Lucid's approval and that Lucid issued a stop-sale on 28 January 2026.
FixService inspects and repairs or replaces the second-row seats as necessary (Lucid SR-26-04-00). Press reports describe the repair as a reinforcement bracket fitted with adhesive or a full seat replacement, free of charge.

Irregular window opening/closing behaviour on a small number of vehicles.
Symptoms: Window does not close or open normally. Press reports describe windows that reach the closed position and then reopen, fail to close fully, or ignore the switches.
FixGravity OTA 3.4.2 updated door window software and OTA 3.5.6 corrected the remaining irregular behaviour. Press reports describe a later update, 3.6.5 (around 25 September 2026), for irregular window closing behaviour, and say some faults were mechanical and were fixed by service, for example by replacing a window regulator.

After a Bluetooth call the audio source could switch to the wrong input instead of returning to the previous one. Press reports say early Gravity software also had slow start-up, unstable camera views, a flickering instrument cluster, inconsistent steering-wheel buttons and poor Bluetooth call audio.
FixGravity OTA 3.3.20 addressed it, along with instrument-cluster widget flicker and map drift when stationary. According to press reports, Lucid said the following update would improve camera responsiveness, steering-wheel button consistency and Bluetooth.

Incorrect backrest covers may have been fitted on the front seats, preventing the seat-mounted side airbags from deploying correctly. Press reports say some covers were labelled for the wrong side and that the affected SUVs were built 8 to 22 September 2025.
FixService inspects and replaces front seat backrest covers as needed (Lucid SR-25-05-0).

False 'Key Not Detected' alerts, and rare cases where the fob battery had to be removed and refitted to restore recognition.
Symptoms: 'Key Not Detected' alert with fob present. Press reports also describe the car asking the driver to shake the fob, losing the key with someone inside, or a soft-lock where doors and screens work but the car will not shift into Drive or Reverse.
FixGravity OTA 3.3.5 reduced false alerts; an updated key fob software (installed through a service appointment, e.g. at a Lucid Service Center) removes the battery-reseat issue. Press reports say the fix was partial and complaints continued into 2026; as a workaround, keep the NFC key card on hand.

When a hardware communication fault is detected, High Voltage Interlock software could open the HV contactors while driving.
Symptoms: Sudden loss of drive power while moving.
FixFree OTA software update released June 24, 2024 (Lucid SR-24-03-0). Lucid counted 10 cases; owner letters were mailed in August 2024.

The wiper arm retaining nuts can loosen, so the wipers slip and stop clearing the windshield (FMVSS 104 non-compliance).
Symptoms: Wipers move but do not sweep properly, or stop wiping.
FixService inspects and tightens the wiper arm nuts and replaces damaged parts, free of charge. NHTSA text lists Lucid number SR-23-02-0; Transport Canada lists SR-23-03-0.

Air UX 3.0, the Gravity-style interface, is free over the air only for model-year 2025 and newer Airs. The 2022, 2023 and some 2024 cars have an infotainment processor too weak to run it, which critics say shows how fast EV hardware ages. In the GCC, owners in the UAE reported receiving Air UX 3.0 (software 2.11.0, rollout from 29 September 2026).
FixLucid offers a new infotainment processor for USD 950 including installation (US price, excluding taxes) at a service centre. No Middle East price or upgrade process had been announced.

Some Airs needed rear drive unit replacements. A 2023 Air Touring had its second replacement in three months at about 30,000 miles. A secondary summary of MotorTrend's yearlong Air GT test lists warranty repairs to the rear drive unit, the steering wheel and key-fob connectivity.
FixCovered by the 8-year powertrain warranty. Lucid replaced the drive units.

The high-voltage battery in Edmunds' long-term 2022 Air Grand Touring was replaced in 2024. Edmunds says it was a preemptive replacement under a recall/campaign. InsideEVs attributes it to a coolant leak.
FixReplaced under warranty. Edmunds later measured no battery degradation and said the car left 'better than when it arrived', after more than 60 OTA updates.

Edmunds' first Air Dream Edition review criticised build quality and software faults. The Air Edmunds bought did not meet Lucid's newer quality standards after a QC overhaul, so Lucid replaced it with a later-built Grand Touring.
FixLucid swapped the car for a later build.

In 2022 a new Air Grand Touring owner found the painted charge-port door panel missing after a drive. It had been held on by 3M tape, and a commenter noted that a tape liner had not been removed.
FixLucid service came to fit a spare cover. The owner noted that the panel might need repainting to blend.

Windshield tinting: the film installation liquid can run down the base of the windshield into the electronics behind the dashboard. In a reported Lucid Air case (March 2025) the Lucid service center attributed an electrical failure to the aftermarket windshield tint and estimated about US$7,000 for the repair, outside the warranty.
Symptoms: Electrical or drive-system warnings and screen faults appearing soon after a windshield tint job.
FixPrevention: ask the tint shop to protect the base of the windshield and the dashboard (towels or a waterproof cover), use as little liquid as possible and soak it up as it runs; choose a shop that has tinted Lucids before and agree in writing who pays for any damage. If warnings appear afterwards, contact Lucid service and mention the tint job. Lucid's Owner's Manual warns that liquids in the vehicle can make an electrical component malfunction.

On Out of Spec's long-term 2027 Gravity loaner, lane changes and lane centering misbehaved.
FixLucid told the reviewer that resetting the vehicle would fix it. Later he reported lane centering worked decently over about 1,000 highway miles, and his 1,500-mile update said the bugs were much improved but not perfect.
- WorkaroundGravitychargingBeing verified
The Gravity can take up to 400 kW, but only on stations that deliver 1,000 V and at least about 430 A, and those are rare. Reviewers saw station-limited sessions, and one video asks what the point is if you cannot find a charger that fast. The Touring is held back more on current-limited stations because its pack voltage is lower.
FixWorkaround: the native NACS port and Wunderbox boost allow up to about 220 kW on 400 V Tesla Superchargers (0 to 45%). Plan stops with the built-in charger routing.

Edmunds' long-term Air left an editor stranded and locked out. A dropped cellular connection and a key fob that was not working were involved, and the fob battery had gone flat after only a few months.
FixReplace the fob battery early and keep the key card as a backup.

A stone chip or crack in the Air's full Glass Canopy windscreen means an expensive replacement. One owner's 2022 estimate was about USD 2,000 including tax, parts and labour, and quotes vary with ADAS calibration.
FixReplacement is the remedy. Check that your insurance includes glass cover, ask for quotes that include camera/ADAS recalibration, and repair small chips early. In Saudi Arabia, check parts availability and calibration capability with Lucid service.

The Gravity has been sold without the phone-as-a-key feature the Air has. Lucid moved the target from 'later in 2026' to Q3 2026, then delayed it again to Q1 2027 and apologised to owners.
FixNo phone key yet. Use the fob or NFC card. The Lucid app added Remote Start for the Gravity in March 2026, but it does not unlock by proximity.

Engineering Explained's Air switched its stop mode from Hold to Roll by itself, so the car rolled forward downhill when the driver expected it to hold. Other settings, such as the battery display units, had also changed on their own.
FixNo fix reported. Workaround: check the stop mode and key settings after updates or profile changes. Lucid bought the car back under a lemon-law process.

Lucid has reportedly refused parts or service, including safety-recall work, for salvage-titled Airs. In one widely covered case it required a costly 're-shell' (about USD 50,000 in parts and labour) and the car stayed in a speed-limited service mode. This is a risk for cheap imported US salvage cars.
FixLater reports say Lucid's legal team offered to take the cars and reset the errors in-house. Warranty can be voided for salvage-branded cars. Check the title history before buying an imported used Air.

Consumer Reports' 2025 Air reliability page, as quoted by The Weekly Driver, says the 2025 Air is 'much less reliable than other cars from the same model year'. No component breakdown is given because the survey sample is small.
FixThere is no direct fix. Buyers should check that every recall and OTA remedy has been applied, keep the warranty valid (install required updates), and consider how far they are from Lucid service.

After software 2.9.0, owners reported more locking problems: the car locked but would not unlock, did not respond to commands, door handles did not work, or the car locked while being loaded. One reported case involved a toddler locked inside. Passive-entry complaints go back to the car's launch.
FixNo Lucid response or recall was found. The owner's manual warns never to leave children unattended in the car.

On a 2025 Air Touring, the owner reported many bugs. CarPlay switched phones or would not load, music stopped by itself until play was pressed on screen, the backup-camera guide lines disappeared, the wrong speed limit showed, a pop-up wrongly said the software was up to date, the car sometimes would not go into drive, speakers misbehaved, and the Lucid app drained the phone battery.
FixLucid admitted its software had fallen short and promised a UX overhaul (Air UX 3.0, from September 2026). Some issues were fixed while new ones appeared. The wrong speed limit may come from third-party map data.

Door handles have failed. Edmunds' long-term Air had an inoperative door handle, and Engineering Explained's 2025 Air lost its rear door handles on a 400-mile trip.

An April 2026 review of NHTSA complaints counted 8 or more Air reports of 'Drive System Fault' or total power loss at both highway and low speeds, often with little or delayed warning. Some cars needed flatbed recovery and weeks at a service centre.
Symptoms: Sudden loss of drive power, drive-system fault message.
FixPer the article, Lucid has addressed causes through a mix of OTA updates, service bulletins and hardware fixes, including several power-loss recalls. Whether 2026 models are fully resolved is not yet clear. If it happens, follow the manual's fault steps (pull over, contact Customer Care, do not tow if told not to) and make sure all recall updates are installed.
